Know what “up to 20” means here
Each addend is between 0 and 10, so no answer is greater than 20. That does not mean every question has an answer near 20 or that each possible total appears. This fixed sheet is a short practice selection, not an assessment covering every addition fact.
Read the plus and equals signs together. A separate demonstration such as 8 + 5 can show making ten: move 2 from the 5 to make 10, then add the remaining 3 to get 13. Do not require this method if the learner can explain another correct approach.
Make time for a method
Use counters, a number line or scrap paper if the answer lines are too small for working. Counting on starts with one addend and takes as many steps as the other addend specifies; it does not count the starting number as the first step.
Ask the learner to explain one easy example and one example that needed more thought. When adding zero appears, connect it to adding no extra objects. The worksheet has no timer or pass score, and using objects is not a failure.
Check and choose the next sheet
Compare each numbered answer with the answer key. If mistakes cluster around crossing ten, revisit that process with a few concrete examples rather than immediately choosing a larger number range. A copied answer is less informative than hearing how it was found.
The customization link keeps this sheet’s Easy setting and 12 questions. Medium would allow addends up to 20 and totals up to 40, so it is not simply another version of “within 20.” To retain the present range, keep Easy and select Try a new arrangement.
